Activities: Theoretical, numerical and experimental investigations of elementary processes in plasmas and their spectroscopic effects. Subjects of special interest are shapes of spectral lines (particularly hydrogen lines), distributions of electric microfields and their gradients in plasmas, and calculations of internal partition functions for atoms and ions in plasmas. Applications of these results to studies of stellar atmosphere spectra.
