Szanowni Państwo,
Zachęcam Państwa nauczycieli szkół średnich do udziału w niżej podanej imprezie organizowanej przez CERN. Jest to wielka szansa udziału w ciekawym spotkaniu naukowo-dydaktycznym.
Byłbym wdzięczny za informacje, kto z Państwa wysłał aplikacje, proszę o przekazanie tej informacji także innym nauczycielom. Korzystając z okazji wstępnie informuję, że ciągle nie ma decyzji Międzynarodowego Komitetu Organizacyjnego co do europejskiego festiwalu "Science on Stage 1".
Komitet czeka na pieniądze z Komisji Europejskiej. Decyzja w sprawie tych pieniędzy może zapadnie w kwietniu lub w maju. Niezależnie od decyzji MKO postanowiliśmy zorganizować krajowy festiwal "Nauki Przyrodnicze na Scenie 1" w Poznaniu w dniach 24 i 25 września 2004 roku. Wkrótce ogłosimy zasady festiwalu - proszę śledzić naszą stronę internatowa "Fizyka na Scenie".

CERN Programme for Physics High School Teachers

The programme consists in a 3-week stage, taking place every year since 1998 at CERN during the month of July. The stage is open to Physics High School Teachers from all CERN member and observer States, as well as from other countries, subject to funding availability.

Goals of the High School teachers' programme:
*Promote the teaching of physics, and in particular of particle physics, in High Schools
*Promote the exchange of knowledge and experience among teachers of different nationality
*Expose teachers to the world of research
*Stimulate activities related to the popularization of Physics within and beyond the classroom
*Help CERN establish closer links with European Schools
*Encourage the cooperation between CERN and existing programs sponsored by the European Union in the area of scientific education

The work produced during the stage is documented and collected by the participants in a Web site: http://teachers.cern.ch/ Please consult this document for more details on the programme, and for a good collection of materials to be used in the class-room.

Who can attend?

All high school teachers from the CERN member states can apply to participate in the programme. Some funds may be available to support teachers from non-member states as well. We require the applicants to possess the following profile:

*Should have a good working knowledge of the English language.
*Should have some basic computing skill (use of mail and of the Web)
*Should be committed to attend in full the 3 weeks of the programme (no late arrivals, no early departures)

Preference in the selection will go to teachers who have a proven experience of extra-curricular activities, such as:

*participation in EU-sponsored programmes (Comenius, etc)
*organization of educational activities (Physics Olimpiades, Summer courses for students)
*contribution to the planning of national curricula
*writing of text-books
*involvement in the activites of National Teachers's Associations, or other national and international educational bodies
*etc.

No a-priori knowledge of or experience with high-energy physics is required.

The year 2004 Programme:
The programme will take place at CERN in the period
July 4th (arrival date) - July 24th (departure date)

To apply please fill in the HST2004 application form. Please note that applications received after 15th March will not be considered.
Financial support:
Financial support will be provided to participants who should need it.
The support will cover up to 1,900CHF for living expenses, and up to 500CHF for travel costs.
